Daily Scripture

The ministry of Alamo UMC goes beyond the walls of our church and part of that is giving what we can share.  By giving your tithe, you are helping us to reach more individuals with God’s word and setting the Wesley example.  Now that we have the technology we can give our offering electronically either by using the paypal donate button at the top of this page or by using our QR code here scanning it with your phone.

What is the meaning of the Longest Night?

The longest night in the Bible often refers to the Winter Solstice, which occurs on December 21, marking the longest night of the year in the northern hemisphere. This night is significant in various cultural and religious contexts, particularly during the Christmas season. It serves as a reminder of God's care and compassion, especially for those experiencing grief or loss. The event is also associated with the Gospel of John, where Jesus wept over the death of His friend Lazarus, highlighting themes of mourning and divine empathy.
